Three walkers found dead in Scottish Highlands

Three walkers, who failed to return from a hiking trip have been found dead in Glen Coe.

Police Scotland has announced the bodies of two men and a woman have been found during a search they conducted of a ridge after concerns were raised when they didn't return.

A spokesperson for the force said the alarm was raised late on Saturday evening after they failed to return.

They also confirmed that due to the difficult terrain an Inverness Coastguard helicopter was dispatched and began a search despite low visibility due to mist and fog.

The RAF are also understood to have been involved in search and rescue efforts.

Kate Forbes MSP said: "This is horrendous news. My thoughts are with the families. My sincere appreciation to Mountain Rescue, as always, and the emergency services."
