MANHUNT: Scottish holiday makers caught in search for escaped terror suspect

A former soldier who stands accused of terrorism has escaped a London jail while working in a prison kitchen by clinging to a delivery van.

Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, went missing in his chef's uniform from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday around 8am.

Khalife is being held on remand before his trial for planting a fake bomb and gathering information that could be used by terrorists.

He has denied the three charges against him.

The category B prison, housing some of the most serious offenders, was put on lockdown after he fled.

Some Scottish holidaymakers travelling out of ports like Dover, Portsmouth and airports like Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester were caught up in police searches assisted by the army.
