The last month is on track to be the hottest on record after the UK enjoyed extreme temperatures.
Temperature readings of the air and sea as well as the rapid melting of Antarctic sea ice have all broken previous records this summer.
We’ve also seen unimaginable devastation across Europe with recent wildfires in Rhodes.
The World Meteorological Organisation said this July has seen the highest temperatures “by a significant margin.”
July 6 was the hottest day ever recorded, with a global mean temperature of 17.08C. Meanwhile, 21 of the 30 hottest days EVER were recorded this July.
Dr. Karsten Haustein, a climate scientist from Leipzig University said that given that the last time global temperatures were this high was over 100,000 years ago, there is a “decent chance” of this July being the hottest month on Earth since back then.
