Five people are in police custody following a protest during the Cycling World Champs yesterday, which caused officials to halt the race.

The Edinburgh to Glasgow route was blocked off for cyclists just west of Falkirk after protestors stormed the route.

There were just over 118 miles left to go for competitors, when they were forced to shift down the gears and stop en route.

Protestors held their demo on the B818 near the Carron Valley Reservoir.

The protestors were removed, and five people were arrested and taken into police custody following the demonstration.

This is Rigged, the Scottish environmental campaign group that recently scaled The Kelpies, has claimed responsibility for the incident.
