Elton John Unable To Watch The Devil Wears Prada Premiere Due to Vision Loss

Sir Elton John missed the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada musical due to vision loss.

Sir Elton John was unable to fully experience the premiere of the new West End musical The Devil Wears Prada, for which he wrote the lyrics, due to his vision loss.

Speaking at the gala night at the Dominion Theatre in London, the 77-year-old said,

"It is hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it," admitting that he has missed many previews because of the struggles he has had with his eyesight.

The star was accompanied by his husband David Furnish, who he called his "rock.”

Sir Elton shared that his vision issues have also hindered him from completing his latest album with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.

In a recent interview on ABC News' Good Morning America, he explained that while he can participate in interviews, he cannot read or watch anything.

He first revealed his vision difficulties in a September Instagram post after suffering an eye infection, indicating that his recovery has been "extremely slow" and that it will take time for his sight to improve.
