Edinburgh Rail Commuters Brace for Disruption Due to Major Engineering Work

Commuters between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High, Dunblane, and Inverness should prepare for travel disruptions from January 29 to February 1, 2024, due to major engineering work in the Edinburgh Park area.

The affected routes will experience line closures during this period.

For Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High services, trains will operate between Linlithgow and Glasgow Queen Street. Commuters are advised to use tram services, supplemented by replacement buses if necessary, between Edinburgh and Edinburgh Park. Buses will replace trains between Edinburgh Park and Linlithgow.

Edinburgh to Dunblane services will witness train operations between Falkirk Grahamston and Dunblane. Replacement buses will cover the route between Edinburgh and Falkirk Grahamston, stopping at Haymarket, Edinburgh Park, Linlithgow, and Polmont.

For Edinburgh to Inverness services via Stirling, trains will be diverted to run via Fife, resulting in revised schedules at Edinburgh. Some local trains will be canceled to accommodate diverted services.

Additionally, Edinburgh to Helensburgh/Milngavie via Bathgate services will see train operations between Bathgate and Helensburgh/Milngavie. Buses will replace trains between Edinburgh and Bathgate, stopping at Haymarket, Edinburgh Park, Uphall, and Livingston North.
