Edinburgh detectives are urgently seeking information from the public after a series of disturbing incidents in the Colinton area.
On Saturday, October 7th, around 7.40 pm, a man entered a shop on Bridge Road, brandishing a knife, and threatened a male staff member, demanding money.
He fled the scene with a three-figure sum of cash, heading towards Colinton Village.
The suspect is described as a 30-40-year-old, 6'2" individual with an athletic build, bearing a local Scottish accent. He wore a distinctive light grey Adidas hooded top with neon green trim, a white face covering, light-colored gloves, dark trousers, and dark trainers.
Subsequently, on Sunday, October 8th, around 7.50 am, the same man entered a shop on Colinton Road, once again armed with a knife, threatening a female staff member.
However, he left without obtaining anything. Shortly after, at approximately 8.30 am, the suspect targeted a shop on Ashley Terrace, wielding a knife and demanding money from the staff, fleeing with a three-figure sum of cash.
In this instance, he wore a black and white face covering with a skull and cross-bone design, a black hooded top with an orange T-shirt underneath, camouflaged-colored jogging bottoms, and black and red/pink shoes. He carried a white string bag secured on both shoulders.
Detective Inspector Mhairi Cooper from Edinburgh Division CID expressed concern, stating, "The members of staff in all three incidents have been left badly shaken, and it is vital that we trace the person involved."
Given the physical description of the suspect and the proximity of the incidents, authorities believe they are connected.
Detective Inspector Cooper urged anyone who may have witnessed the suspect in the vicinity before or after the incidents to come forward. Additionally, motorists with dash-cams were encouraged to review their footage for potential evidence related to the case.
Individuals with information are urged to contact Police Scotland at 101, quoting incident number 3529 of October 7, 2023.
