Sir Lenny Henry, the iconic actor and comedian, has declared that he will be hosting Comic Relief for the final time this year.

Co-founder of the charity in 1985 alongside Richard Curtis, Sir Lenny has been a stalwart host of the BBC show Red Nose Day for decades.

At 65, he expressed his intention to step back from hosting duties during an interview on BBC Breakfast.

As a life president, Sir Lenny assured that he will still make special appearances and engage in fundraising efforts, but hosting responsibilities will be handed over to newer talents.

The decision reflects a desire to involve the vibrant wave of emerging comedians, with podcasts and massive online followings, in steering Comic Relief forward.

A special night of comedy at the London Palladium will pay homage to Sir Lenny's legacy, featuring talents such as Rosie Jones, Aisling Bea, Joel Dommett, and Sara Pascoe, promising a night of entertainment while maintaining respect for the charity's core mission.
