Iconic pop group S Club 7 will help to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation after the death of Paul Cattermole.

Cattermole died in April this year aged just 46 from an underlying heart condition, this tragedy came weeks after S Club 7 had announced their comeback tour.

In honour of Cattermole, the band will be promoting the British Heart Foundation's 'Spotlight On' campaign at their concerts. They are hoping to raise awareness and research funds for heart conditions and have said it will all be worth it if they can "help save one life".

They will be using the hand heart gesture and encouraging fans to use the hashtag #showyourhearts in honour of their help to the charity.

The band took Cattermole's death as a huge loss with fellow band member Rachel Stevens saying there were "no signs" that he was unwell.

Singer John Lee from the group had described Cattermole as a "big brother" and said: "You always associate heart conditions and things like that with older people, you don't think it's going to happen to people that are so young... So for us to be able to jump on board and be a part of this absolutely incredible campaign is so important."

The British Heart Foundation is hoping to shine a light on heart and circulatory diseases and raise funds for life-saving research stating how often heart conditions can go undiagnosed for too long until it's too late.

Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Chief executive of the charity has said: "Families are robbed of a loved one far too early... Every two hours, someone under 50 dies of heart and circulatory disease, which is why it is important and we're so grateful and honoured to be partnering with S Club to raise awareness of these conditions."
