British singer Liam Payne has cancelled his upcoming tour after being diagnosed with a serious kidney infection.
The 29-year-old was taken to the hospital after pulling out of his South Africa performance and has been advised by doctors to "rest and recover".
The former One Direction singer took to Instagram to apologise to fans who had already bought tickets and hopes to reschedule his performance.
In part of his statement on Instagram, he wrote: "Over the past week, I've been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, it's something I wouldn't wish on anyone, and doctor's orders are that now I need to rest and recover."
Payne also wrote: "I was beyond excited to come and play for you guys. To all of you who bought tickets: I'm so sorry."
The 'Strip That Down" singer is "working on rescheduling the tour" and refunding fans who bought tickets to his show.
He was also set to peform in Peru, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Argentina.
Fans were quick to support Payne's recovery on Twitter sending him love and hopes for a speedy recovery.

Payne's career began on the singing competition show, The X Factor in 2010 when he was put into a boy group with his fellow members of One Direction: Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles.
After finsihing third place the boys had huge hits such as 'That's what makes you beautiful' and 'You & I'.
After after the group decided to split in 2015 after Zayn Malik left the group, Payne along with his fellow bandmates started a solo singing career bringing out songs such as Familiar and Get Low.
