First episode of Strictly 2023 sees drop in viewers

Strictly Come Dancing's first live episode of 2023, saw a dramatic drop in viewership from the pre-recorded episode which showed who was dancing with who.

The pre-recorded episode which revealed which celebrities were partnered with which professionals was watched by 7.2 million people at it's peak.

Meanwhile, Saturday's first live episode of the series showing the couples dancing with their partners was watched by 6.6 million people.

Actor Nigel Harman topped the leaderboard on Saturday after he closed the programme with a dramatic paso doble.
