The US stars, whose relationship dates back to 2003 and was rekindled last year, shared the news with the world through an Instagram video posted by Ashanti. In the video, Ashanti's mother, Tina Douglas, innocently inquires about her daughter's readiness for the show. Clad in a sparkling ensemble adorned with fur, the "Foolish" singer responds with a playful hint, stating, "I’m going to need about nine months."

The 43-year-old songstress later confirmed her engagement to Nelly, known by his real name Cornell Haynes Jr., expressing her excitement and gratitude in an interview with Essence magazine.

"This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation," Ashanti shared. "Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiance, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience."

The 49-year-old artist shares a daughter and a son with his former partner, Channetta Valentine, and lovingly adopted his late sister Jackie Donahue's two children after her tragic battle with leukemia in 2005.
