Alan Ford Joins "EastEnders" in New Role as an 'Estranged Father'

Renowned actor Alan Ford, famed for his role in "The Riot Club," expressed his excitement at joining the cast of "EastEnders," stating he's "delighted" to take on a character closer to his own age within the popular TV drama series.

At 85 years old, Ford is set to portray Stevie, the long-lost father of Billy Mitchell (played by Perry Fenwick). Stevie, who previously had sole custody of his brother Charlie, left Billy to grow up in care from the age of 10. The father and son duo haven't crossed paths for a staggering 25 years.

In his own words, Ford conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, "I feel highly delighted to be playing a character close to my own age in this extremely popular television drama series."

Stevie's arrival in Walford coincides with the Mitchell family's preparations to bid farewell to Aunt Sal. However, tensions arise as the BBC disclosed that Stevie's presence isn't received warmly by the family.

The on-screen funeral of Aunt Sal follows the real-life passing of actress Anna Karen last February due to a house fire at the age of 85.

Alan Ford, with a remarkable career spanning over five decades, is best known for his roles in Guy Ritchie films such as "Snatch" alongside Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, and Vinnie Jones, as well as "Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels."

Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of "EastEnders," expressed honor in welcoming Ford to the show, emphasizing that while Billy has been a pivotal character for over 25 years, little is known about his tumultuous childhood and the events leading to his time in care.

BBC confirmed Ford has commenced filming for his role and assured viewers that his character's initial scenes will grace the screens in the New Year. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await the unraveling of the Mitchell family dynamics with the introduction of Stevie into the iconic British soap opera.
