Scotland, amid the current weather warning issued by the Met Office, could be set to achieve its wettest day ever since records began.
Many parts of northern Scotland are expected to be battered by amber & red weather warnings as Storm Babet sweeps the UK. There is a risk to life in places - and in Brechin in Scotland, residents have been told to evacuate.
Most of Scotland - including Edinburgh - is currently under a yellow warning too.
An amber warning - meaning there is a possibility of travel delays, road and rail closures, power cuts and the potential risk to life and property - is in place in northeastern Scotland.
Amber warnings for wind and rain are also currently in place in parts of eastern Scotland, including Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen.
A smaller area of eastern Scotland is under a rare red warning. This encompasses areas including Kirriemuir, Forfar, Montrose, Laurencekirk and Inverbervie.
To put the amount of rainfall due into perspective, Dundee is expected to receive 1/3 of its annual rainfall (778mm) in the next 24 hours.
And Scotland as a whole is expected to receive 250mm of rainfall in the next 24 hours, which will break the record for the wettest day since the records began.
