School strike action will still go ahead after one of the largest unions rejected the best and final pay offer from The Scottish Government.
Teaching and support staff will go on strike next week, with Edinburgh being one of the worst-hit areas.
The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities offered employees an uplift of almost £2,000 per year - an almost 10% pay rise.
But with one union, Unison, already declaring they have rejected the deal their mandated strike action will continue, which means cleaners and caretakers will be walking out.
They say the pay increase was a vague offer, which didn't state it was going to be fully funded, which they believe could lead to further cuts and job losses.
Unison Scotland head of local government, Johanna Baxter, said: “This revised offer is far too little, too late. Strikes will therefore proceed next week. We cannot agree to a pay offer that will result in further cuts to our members’ jobs and the services they provide.
The strikes will run for three days from Tuesday 26th September.
