Met Office Issues Weather Warning for Edinburgh and Lothians

The Met Office advises that the freezing rain should subside by Tuesday afternoon, as the warning is only in effect until noon.

A yellow weather warning for ice and snow has been issued by the Met Office for Tuesday, February 18th.

This warning is in effect from 3:00 AM to 12:00 PM and includes Edinburgh, Midlothian, and West Lothian. Residents in these areas should prepare for potentially hazardous conditions.

Forecasts indicate a mix of snow and freezing rain. Snow flurries are anticipated on Tuesday morning, with the potential for heavier snowfall later in the morning.

Low-lying areas are expected to receive 0-1 cm of snow, while areas above 200 meters could see 1-5 cm.

Freezing rain is also a possibility in some regions, which could lead to icy surfaces and challenging driving conditions, even on roads that have been treated.

Travellers are cautioned that the weather may cause delays and dangerous driving conditions. Motorists are urged to check for any road closures or delays before starting their journey.

Drivers are reminded to prioritise safety by driving carefully and avoiding rushing on the roads.
