Edinburgh Weather Expected to Dip to -7°C During Cold Snap

Locals are being advised to wrap up and prepare for low temperatures.

Edinburgh is bracing for a severe cold snap, with temperatures predicted to drop to -6°C and even -7°C on the nights of Wednesday and Thursday, January 8 and 9.

This chilly start to the year will persist throughout the week, with residents advised to bundle up as forecasts expect exceptionally cold conditions ahead.

Although the capital has narrowly avoided significant weather warnings for snow and ice, the anticipated temperature plunge will make for some frosty nights, marking the lowest readings of the year so far

Additionally, Friday is forecasted to bring lows of around -4°C.

Looking ahead, milder weather is expected over the weekend, but not before Saturday potentially sees sleet showers accompanied by light winds, with temperatures dipping to around 0°C.

Sunday is expected to be particularly wet, so locals should prepare for a mix of conditions over the coming days.
