Preparations are in full swing as Edinburgh readies itself to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its iconic Hogmanay celebrations, a traditional Scottish extravaganza.
Since 1993, the Scottish capital has hosted a ticketed concert and street party, marking the arrival of the New Year in grand fashion. This year's festivities, spanning four days from this Friday, promise an array of events, including the much-anticipated return of the torchlight procession, absent since 2019.
The Old Town is set to witness a procession of around 20,000 participants on Friday evening, commencing at the Meadows and led by Shetland's Up Helly Aa Jarl Squad.
The Concert in the Gardens, headlined by Britpop icons Pulp, will kick off the Hogmanay celebrations at 9 pm.
Princes Street is expected to welcome up to 40,000 revelers from around the world for the renowned street party, culminating in the striking fireworks display from Edinburgh Castle at midnight, heralding the start of 2024.
