Golden Globes: Nominations Are Revealed For 2025 Award Show

The nominations for the 82nd Golden Globe awards have been revealed.

As anticipation builds for the Golden Globes 2025, the spotlight shines brightly on Jacques Audiard’s audacious crime musical, Emilia Pérez, which has emerged as the frontrunner in this year’s nominations.

Following its impressive sweep at the European Film Awards, Emilia Pérez has amassed a staggering ten nominations, including prestigious categories such as Best Comedy or Musical, Best Director, and Best Performance by a Leading Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón.

In a year brimming with talent, Kate Winslet has made waves with two nominations for her work in Lee and The Regime.

The actress finds herself among difficult competition in the Best Actress category, which also includes Demi Moore for The Substance, Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl, Angelina Jolie for Maria, Tilda Swinton for The Room Next Door, Nicole Kidman for Babygirl, and Fernanda Torres for I’m Still Here.

The nominations have also spotlighted standout performances in the Best Actor category, where Hugh Grant, Ralph Fiennes, and Daniel Craig are all vying for the prestigious award.

Grant’s portrayal as a Mormon-baiter in the horror film Heretic marks his return to major awards contention; notably, his last Globe victory occurred nearly thirty years ago for Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Supporting actress nods added further excitement, with Selena Gomez receiving accolades for her role in Only Murders in the Building and also being recognised for Emilia Pérez.

Conclave, the thriller from Edward Berger, placed third with six nominations, receiving nods for its script, direction, and leading actor, Ralph Fiennes.

Notably, this year’s awards season saw some snubs that raised eyebrows among fans and critics alike. Both Blitz and Hard Truths received no nominations, a surprising oversight for projects that had generated significant buzz.

Additionally, the Netflix adaptation of the David Nicholls novel One Day was entirely overlooked, despite the platform's overall dominance in nominations across both film and television.

The latest box office hit Wicked, the musical adaptation that is currently capturing audience attention, also earned its place in the awards conversation.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were nominated in the leading and supporting categories, respectively.

The film also found itself recognized in the new “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” category, alongside Gladiator II, which secured a nomination for Denzel Washington as supporting actor—marking the actor’s 11th nomination overall.

The upcoming ceremony, will be hosted by Nikki Glaser—who herself received a nomination for her stand-up special—on January 5th, promising an evening filled with excitement and accolades for the brightest talents in the industry.
