Could we be about to see Olly Alexander from Years & Years takeover one of the most iconic acting roles in British television soon?

Rumours started swirling recently that the singer might replace Jodie Whittaker as the next Time Lord in Doctor Who after his recent acting work.

Many fans were thrilled with his acting performance as the character Ritchie on It’s a Sin and now want to see him battling Daleks.

It was speculated back in January that Whittaker is due to leave the iconic role, but the BBC has yet to confirm if the rumours are true.

Whittaker made a huge splash after becoming the first female Doctor in all the 50-year history of the famous television series.

Olly Alexander said he would love to join the Doctor Who cast, but admitted in a new interview that it is not in the cards anytime soon.

He revealed in the interview: “I would love to, what an amazing role that would be but it’s not happening I don’t think anytime soon.”

When one of the television hosts said they had money on it he would end up with the role, the Starstruck singer then became very giggly.
